Notification of Gifts or Benefits

A reminder for staff to declare all gifts exceeding $200 by 15 May 2019.

Murdoch University’s Conflict of Interest policy states that an employee must not solicit or should not accept any gifts or benefits (irrespective of the value) when to do so would, or could reasonably be seen to place the employee in a compromising or prejudicial position or influence the employee’s ability to impartially discharge her or his duties to the University; or damage the University’s reputation or integrity.

Where gifts and/or benefits are accepted in accordance with the above principle, it is necessary that those exceeding $200 individually or cumulatively from the same party over time are reported and managed appropriately in accordance with this policy.

If you have not disclosed any gifts and/or benefits exceeding the above threshold since April 2018, kindly do so before 15 May 2019. This is important for reporting related to Fringe Benefit Tax.

The disclosure should be made by completing the notification of a gift or benefit form found at this link and emailing it to ConflictofInterest@murdoch.edu.au.
