What is an Investiture?
The investiture of a Vice Chancellor at a university is a formal ceremony conferring the authority and symbols of high office on this individual. This type of ceremony is among the oldest of traditions in academia, originating from ancient European universities. The term investiture comes from the Latin phrase for ‘dress in robe’. Our new Vice Chancellor will be officially invested when he is presented with the Vice Chancellor’s Gown by the Governor of Western Australia.
