This year the theme is ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’, calling for action to make progress and systemic change.
“Whether it’s seeking proper environmental, cultural and heritage protections, Constitutional change, a comprehensive process of truth-telling, working towards treaties, or calling out racism—we must do it together.” - www.naidoc.org.au

Mural on Bush Court
During NAIDOC Week, we have Jarni McGuire, a talented West Australian emerging artist, creating a beautiful handpainted mural. The mural will be painted onto a large wall between the Bush Court entrance to The Student Hub and ChaTime Bubble Tea Hub overlooking Bush Court.
Jarni was raised on Noongar country as a Whadjuk, Ballardong, and Yued woman living in Boorloo (Perth). The inspiration for Jarni’s work is her connection to her Noongar culture. She believes that she and many others can learn from using traditional language and listening to her Elders’ stories, asking questions, and respecting Noongar protocols.
Jarni’s art and design is a celebration of her people’s traditional stories and culture. She is committed to using this creative practise as a platform to share her culture with the wider community.
The design, meaning and story of the mural has been developed through consultation between Jarni and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students. Consultation sessions were hosted by Kulbardi during National Reconciliation Week.
There will be a timelapse of the creation of the mural that will be made available along with more information about this project after NAIDOC Week, so stay tuned for further updates!
