This Program matches defence industry small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with university students for a paid 12-week (450 hours) internship (currently $954 per week for a 37.5 hour working week) as a casual employee, contributing to an SME project.
For the 2022/23 intake an additional stream open to technology students has been added to the program. 120 internships will be offered during 2022. Of these, 90 will be offered to engineering students and 30 to technology students.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for an internship you need to:
- Be an Australian citizen
- Be a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate engineering or technology student (with a strong academic record) currently enrolled full-time at an Australian university
- Be able to commit to the full 12-week internship (placements take place between November and April each year)
- Be able to obtain necessary workplace clearances prior to commencement of the internship
- Be able to comply with Covid-19 vaccination requirements as per State legislation and/or employer requirements
- Have not previously undertaken a DIIP (or DEIP) internship
