Murdoch Guild, Access Wellbeing and Equity (AWE) and Murdoch University Library are teaming up to bring you a Clothing Swap this Sustainable September.
Leading up to the event, they are inviting donations of unwanted clothing items.
Did you know that less than 15% of clothes are recycled or reused? Globally, the fast fashion industry creates 92 million tonnes of waste per year and uses 79 trillion litres of water.
You can help meet Goal 12 of the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aims to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
All types of clothing, for all types of people, is needed - women's, men's, gender neutral, and including (but not limited to) formal wear and work wear.
Donations can be more than just clothing. Shoes/boots, handbags, jewellery, scarves, and hats will also be accepted. Please note that we are unable to accept underwear, socks or swimwear.
Please ensure donations are clean and in good condition. A good rule is to ask yourself if you would give it to a friend.
Donations can be dropped off at the following locations before 5pm Friday, 9 September.
- Lobby of Building 390, west end
- Lobby of the Library, Bush Court entrance
And remember to come along to the Clothing Swap event on 15 September if you can make it!
If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help at the event, please email Tamara Capper.
