Reminder — National Student Safety Survey

Published: 6th September 2021

This is a reminder that the National Student Safety Survey (NSSS) will run from Monday, 6 September 2021 to Sunday, 3 October 2021.

NSSS announcement 300x420

Murdoch University takes sexual assault, abuse and harassment seriously and is committed to implementing new initiatives to ensure the protection and support of our students and staff.

Why should I take part?

We encourage students to complete the National Student Safety Survey to assess how safe you feel on campus and gather information about your experiences relating to sexual assault and harassment. Feedback will help drive the change that may need to take place.

Students will be randomly selected to participate in the survey to ensure representation from the whole student population. If you are selected, you will receive an email from Universities Australia and the Social Research Centre. Participation is voluntary and it will take 10-12 minutes to complete the survey.

If you are not randomly selected, you can still have your say by visiting nsss.edu.au from 6 September to 3 October 2021.

Making a disclosure

If you have experienced, witnessed or being informed of sexual harm you can make a confidential and anonymous disclosure - there is a guide to help you through this process. Your disclosure will be received by a team of trained staff who, if you provide contact details, will assist you to access supports and make decisions about follow-up actions you would like.

Health and support services

The Murdoch University Counelling Service is free and confidential, available Monday – Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. A 24-hour support service is also available to students on where to get help if sexual harm has been experienced, witnessed, or informed.

Students are also encouraged to complete the Sexual Harm eLearning module – developed by Universities Australia and Australian Psychological – that is accessible through LMS.

Check out Romy with the lovely Jarrah to explain why your participation in the survey is so important!
