COVID-19 Update: 7 January 2022

Published: 7th January 2022

The Western Australian Government has today announced the requirement to wear masks indoors will lift from 6pm on Friday, 7 January 2022.

While masks are not mandated, Murdoch University encourages staff and students to consider continuing to wear masks when in close contact or crowded situations on campus, as masks are the best way of protecting ourselves and the University community.

It is also important to maintain good hygiene standards, to not be complacent, continue to adhere to our COVID-19 Campus Protocols and continue to scan the QR codes where required and follow government health advice on COVID-19 testing, vaccinations and staying home if feeling unwell.

Learning and teaching will continue as normal.

The University’s Critical Incident Management Team continues to meet regularly and monitor health advice and will continue to do so, given the recent incidents of COVID being contracted in the community.

We encourage everyone to continue to monitor the WA Health Department website for updates as more information becomes available.

Please stay safe and follow all health and safety advice from the Department of Health.

Thank you for your patience and for continuing to take all possible steps to ensure we have a safe and healthy University community.

Barry MacKay
Chair, Critical Incident Management Team
