Please read this message in full. It contains important information relating to Murdoch University’s COVID-19 response.
This afternoon, the WA Government announced a person is suspected to have been infectious with COVID-19 while in the community but has not announced any restrictions. The Government has indicated the person returned a weak COVID-positive result, then returned a negative result.
The Government is concerned the person may have been infectious at some point while in the community. If you have been at any of these sites at the times specified you need to follow the advice of the WA Department of Health.
At this time, all current University travel restrictions are unchanged. There are no changes to scheduled University operations or academic activities.
The revelation of a potential positive infectious case in the community reinforces the importance of scanning the SafeWA QR code each time you enter a building. Murdoch University has more than 90 unique QR codes – individual codes for each building to make contact tracing easier – so it is important you scan the QR code each time you enter a different Murdoch University building.
All students are reminded to follow the University’s COVID-19 Campus Protocols which outline the necessary disease protection measures we all need to follow to stay safe.
We encourage everyone to continue to monitor the WA Health Department website for updates as more information becomes available and exposure sites are updated.
The University’s Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT) remains activated and will meet as required to consider any further Government announcements and advise the University community accordingly.
